Two people were killed and four injured in a traffic accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, January 12, on the National Highway, near Placetas, in Villa Clara province, Cuba.
The first reports on social networks indicate that the tragic incident occurred between 3 and 4 o’clock in the afternoon at kilometer 288 in the town of Baez, in the municipality of Placetas.
Among the injured is an Italian tourist who was rushed to the city of Santa Clara, the provincial capital.
“In the unfortunate event, four injured and two deceased are reported. Two of the injured were treated at the General Hospital of Placetas Daniel Codorniú Pruna. These injured are male, white, one of them is a foreigner of Italian nationality, the latter needed emergency treatment and was transferred to Santa Clara”, indicated a post on Facebook of the newspaper Vanguardia.
At the time of publishing this note, the authorities had not informed the identity of the people killed or injured as a result of the fatal event.

In the same group, user Alejandro Expósito posted other photos of how one of the cars involved in the crash was left: broken in half, lying on the side of the road.
In the comments, an Internet user identified as Rubén de Armas said that he lives in Báez (kilometer 296), very close to where the accident occurred, and that “that stretch of road is undesirable”.
On Tuesday, January 11, three people were reported injured as a preliminary result of an accident suffered by a tourist car on a highway in Matanzas.
According to reports, the accident occurred at kilometer 142 in the municipality of Jagüey Grande. Shared photos show the damage suffered by the Hyundai vehicle when it left the road and crashed into a tree.
